Pixelligent Named Best New Incubator Company

Pixelligent, a nanotechnology company developing technology to make computer chips smaller, was named best new incubator company at the 2006 Maryland Incubator Companies of the Year Awards.

An MTECH Ventures portfolio firm since summer 2005, Pixelligent is developing materials, using nanotechnology, for the semiconductor industry to significantly enhance lithography resolution, extending Moore's Law to make computer chips smaller.

Started by a Gregory Cooper, a University of Maryland alumnus (Ph.D., physics), Pixelligent has raised over $2 million in funding and completed multiple strategic partnerships with leading semiconductor materials firms.

Pixelligent was also a summer 2006 Maryland Industrial Partnerships project award winner. Funding for the project supports product development research with the University's Dr. Daniel Falvey, in the department of chemistry and biochemistry.

The purpose of the 2006 Maryland Incubator Company of the Year Awards is to publicly recognize achievements by current clients and graduates of Maryland incubators and to provide a forum for the nominees to increase their visibility in the business, technology and investment communities.

Sponsored by the Maryland Technology Development Corporation (TEDCO), RSM McGladrey, Maryland Department of Business & Economic Development (Maryland DBED), and Saul Ewing LLP, the awards are chosen in several categories by a selection committee of regional industry leaders and early-stage investors.

For more information about the awards, visit the Maryland Incubator Company of the Year Awards web site.
